Justice Council

Red Earth Cree Nation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance discussions on administration of Justice in 2019. Discussions and development are currently in discussion and are working to advance the recognition of Indigenous rights and self-determination.

The Red Earth Cree Nation holds general assemblies for members to give directions and pass legislations.Guided by elders, membership gains knowledge about the annual status on programs and services by the administration.

Director Judicial Relations

Welcome Hendrick Head as the new Director of Judicial Relations. Hendrick Head brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role as Director of Judicial Relations for the Red Earth Cree Nation. With a deep understanding of legal frameworks and a commitment to fostering positive relationships within the community, Hendrick works tirelessly to ensure that the judicial system serves the needs of all members of the Nation. Drawing on his background in governance administration and his strong ties to Cree culture, he advocates for fair and equitable access to justice while upholding the values and traditions of the Nation. Through his leadership, Hendrick strives to promote harmony and reconciliation, building bridges between the legal system and Indigenous ways of knowing.

Custom Council

Our role is to represent band membership by assuring all families are included in the formation of a collective infrastructure of the Red Earth Cree Nation. The purpose of the Red Earth Cree First Nation Convention 1992 is the interpretations of our traditional laws which govern all aspects of our self-governance and is inclusive in the representation of all membership in family representation.  It is imperative as a First Nation to have our traditional laws be documented and followed and set the leadership precedence for our leaders to follow.  The Custom Council is to work closely with the Chief and Council in pursuing a common goal and are working towards defining and outlined in all areas of support in fulfilling our treaty rights.

Therefore, Custom Council develops drafts of the Convention Act, Membership Code, and Election Act to be ratified by the Red Earth Cree Nation membership at the Annual General Assembly.

Women Council

The Women’s Council of the Red Earth Cree Nation is led by a matriarch of passionate individuals dedicated to empowering women and advocating for gender equality within our community. Committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, the Council provides a platform for women to voice their concerns, share their experiences, and enact positive change. With a focus on promoting cultural preservation, health and wellness, education, and economic empowerment, the Council works tirelessly to address the unique needs and challenges faced by women in our Nation. Through collaboration, advocacy, and community engagement, the Women’s Council plays a vital role in shaping a brighter, more equitable future for all members of the Red Earth Cree Nation.

RECN Senate

The Red Earth Cree Nation Senate, comprised of esteemed former Chiefs, stands as a beacon of wisdom and leadership within our community. With a collective wealth of experience in governance and a deep-rooted commitment to the well-being of the Nation, each member brings invaluable insight and perspective to the table. As custodians of our heritage and guardians of our future, the Senate plays a pivotal role in guiding our Nation towards prosperity and self-determination. Through their continued dedication and unwavering advocacy, they uphold the values of integrity, unity, and respect that are the foundation of Red Earth Cree Nation’s identity.

As the Student Chief & Council for the Red Earth Cree Nation, this dedicated team embodies the spirit of youth leadership and community empowerment. Led by Student Chief, they are passionate advocates for the voices and concerns of their peers, working tirelessly to create positive change within their community. Through initiatives focused on education, cultural revitalization, and youth engagement, they strive to build a brighter future for all members of the Nation. With a strong commitment to preserving Cree traditions and fostering a sense of belonging, the Student Chief & Council serve as inspiring role models for the next generation of leaders.
